We’re Jasper O’Loughlin and Jonty Inglis.

At eighteen we were labouring on a Christchurch construction site that was always short on workers. When the foreman needed extra hands, we’d ring around our mates and get them down there the next morning. He paid us $25 an hour a head, we paid the workers $20, and kept $5 as a finder’s fee. The whole business was sitting in that $5.

We were also watching the labour hire firms on that same site let everyone down. Workers who didn’t turn up, workers who weren’t physically capable of the job, workers with no reason to care whether it got finished. We knew where to find the opposite: fit, motivated students who wanted the work and wanted to be asked back.

We started JJ Labour out of our first-year halls at Cumberland College, while studying finance at the University of Otago, and have since expanded across Christchurch and Dunedin. We’ve supported 70+ companies through the South Island, put 250+ students into part-time work, and moved several of them into full-time roles.

We’re dedicated to providing the best general labour to companies across New Zealand. Motivated workers, affordable rates, and people who turn up ready to work. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.
